About Ian Clark Photography

Hi, I’m Ian Clark, a self-taught photographer based in Yate, in the South West of England. Nestled between the countryside of the Cotswolds and the vibrant cities of Bristol and Bath, I’m surrounded by a wide variety of landscapes and cityscapes to explore. I walk 8-10 miles most days, which gives me plenty of opportunities to spot interesting views, unique compositions and details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Discovering beauty in the overlooked

My photography ranges from quiet countryside sunrises to the architecture and history of nearby cities, along with images from my travels and everyday moments that simply catch my eye. I love discovering beauty in the overlooked: reflections in the water, shifting light, the play of shadow and shape, and capturing scenes that invite people to see familiar places in new ways.

In 2014, my first exhibition, Not as We See It, was shown as part of the Bristol Festival of Photography at Hotel du Vin. Through this work, I aimed to challenge people’s perceptions of the city by capturing views that aren’t immediately obvious or stereotypical of Bristol, such as a reflection in the water of the Floating Harbour or a silhouette of the cathedral.

Photography has become a deeply rewarding part of my life

What started as a hobby a few years ago has grown into an ongoing creative journey. I’m proud to be a member of the Royal Photographic Society, where I participate in the Digital Imaging and Travel groups. I am currently studying photography with the Open University as I continue to refine my craft.

I hope you enjoy exploring my work. If you would like to learn more or discuss a potential project, I’d love to hear from you – get in touch.
